Collagen peptan® 1 Marine Nutrimuscle

Our Marine Collagen is hydrolysed. The collagen peptides are therefore much better assimilated by the body. This ensures optimal bioavailability and therefore maximises the effects of Collagen on the quality of the skin and on the protection of bones, tendons and joints.

According to research, collagen hydrolysate allows a reduced molecular weight, thus improving and accelerating the assimilation of collagen. This facilitates the digestibility of the amino acids and optimises their benefits.

What are the differences between Peptan® 1 Marine Collagen and Peptan® 1 Cattle Collagen? 

The main difference between our two collagens concerns the raw materials used. Both our collagens are of animal origin. You can therefore choose between our bovine or marine (wild fish) collagen, depending on your dietary preferences.

Who is Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen intended for?

Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen is intended for :

  • People who want to improve the elasticity of their skin thanks to  better hydration;
  • Athletes to allow their joints to recover better after an effort;
  • To sedentary people suffering from joint pain;
  • As a preventive measure.

Dosage :

Use 3 to 10 g of Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen per day according to your needs. 

  • In prevention: three grams or 8 capsules in preventive doses if you do not suffer from tendons or joints. 
  • In case of pain/injury: increase the dosage to 10 g daily at the slightest pain.
  • For the skin: We recommend at least 5g per day to have a moisturizing effect on the skin. A dose of 10g increases the effects.

When should I take Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen?

It is preferable to take Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen twice a day (in the morning and evening) rather than just once, in order to cover your needs in joint precursors throughout the day.

We recommend taking Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen with a meal or snack, ideally accompanied by protein. Indeed, collagen being a protein, taking it on an empty stomach would favour its use by the body for muscle building, with lesser benefits than a classic protein.

Our blood naturally contains practically no hydroxyproline. This level does not increase after the intake of classic proteins. On the other hand, it increases strongly after the ingestion of collagen hydrolysates (1) and remains high for more than 4 to 6 hours before decreasing again.

How to take Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen?

Since it has very little taste, you can add Collagen peptan® 1 Marine to your protein or you can take it with water or fruit juice. Without vigorous mixing, Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen has a tendency to clump together into a ball. But this does not change its effectiveness, so it is not necessary to dissolve it perfectly.

Peptan® 1,5000 Daltons Marine Collagen does not act as a temporary painkiller to be taken only when in pain. It works slowly but deeply on the joint, promoting gradual regeneration.

Nutrimuscle Collagen peptan® 1 Marine is therefore not formulated to be used for a short period of time. On the contrary, it should be taken over the long term in prolonged courses, or even continuously, as long as your training remains intense.

Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen is not a muscle protein

Collagen hydrolysates are not a good source of protein for nourishing and growing muscles. Their only use is to nourish the joints and tendons. 

On the other hand, classic proteins (whey, total protein or egg protein), while they are effective in nourishing muscles, are not suitable for promoting tendon or joint regeneration.

These disparities between the different sources of protein are essentially due to the composition of the aminogram. Nutrimuscle type 1 marine collagen is low in essential amino acids and does not even contain cysteine. It therefore does not correspond to the amino acid profile that muscles require to grow. 

In the latter, the main triggers for anabolism are the BCAAs. Whey is the most anabolic protein, because it contains a lot of BCAAs. Nutrimuscle marine collagen type 1 is quite low in BCAAs. However, it contains 11.5% proline and 11.4% hydroxyproline as well as over 20% glycine. These are the three amino acids that constitute the main raw material for collagen synthesis.

It also contains a very rare but essential amino acid for collagen: hydroxylysine (see below). Its collagenous origin explains its very particular amino acid profile. These serve as precursors to the collagen that makes up, among other things, our joints. It has been shown that after taking collagen hydrolysates, these amino acids are found massively in the joints (1-2).

Peptan® 1 Marine Collagen is therefore the ideal precursor for the regeneration of cartilage and tendons. It does not duplicate milk or egg proteins, which are specifically aimed at muscles, but which do not target joints and tendons. On the other hand, collagen hydrolysates will produce benefits for the joints and tendons that classic proteins cannot (3). 

No other form of protein is capable of activating the articular production of collagen in cartilage as well as this one. 

Warning: Do not count the doses of Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen in the calculation of your daily protein intake.

Benefits of Peptan® 1 Marine Collagen in more detail

Effects of Nutrimuscle marine collagen

Once in the blood, marine collagen type 1 accumulates directly in the target tissues such as the joints (1). Once integrated, it acts in two distinct ways on cartilage anabolism:

  • Directly: it serves as raw material for cartilage;
  • Indirectly: it stimulates the synthesis of new collagen filaments (2).

On this last point, type 1 marine collagen is all the more effective when the joint is damaged (by muscular training, for example) (2). Studies show that it is the smallest collagen hydrolysate molecules (less than 10,000 kilodaltons in size) that are the most effective for regeneration. For this reason, Nutrimuscle marine collagen contains collagen hydrolysate molecules of about 5,000 kilodaltons.

Physiologically, this is a positive feedback. When the joint is damaged, small collagen molecules are expelled from the cartilage (catabolism). These collagen molecules will serve as a signal to trigger the production of new collagen (anabolic phenomenon) to repair the joint. Unfortunately, the extent of catabolism often outweighs anabolism. If this were not the case, we would never have joint pain.

The use of Nutrimuscle marine collagen aims to accelerate anabolism by making the joints believe that they are degrading much more than they really are. The cartilage synthesis phenomena are all the more increased as Nutrimuscle marine collagen also provides all the raw materials that the body needs to regenerate its joints.

Joint and tendon recovery with athletes

After a physical effort, the degradation of collagen in the joints and tendons intensifies. Blood levels of hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine reveal this joint and tendon catabolism. In both cases, levels will almost double for more than 48 hours after training (12). 

Instead of being reused to resynthesise cartilage and tendon, hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine will be massively eliminated in the urine. After a traumatic weight training session, elevations of these two amino acids in the urine have been noted for more than 9 days (13). It is imperative to compensate for these losses in order to hasten joint and tendon recovery. Otherwise, it is normal to end up in pain since recovery is difficult and partial.

The speed of repair of tendon collagen is twice as slow as that of muscle collagen (14). Tendon recovery is therefore more laborious and longer than muscle recovery. Thanks to marine collagen, you will be able to accelerate tendon anabolism, which reduces the risk of suffering from tendonitis. This effectiveness is well established scientifically. For example, young athletes suffering from various joint pains (knee, shoulder, elbow, back...) received 10 g of collagen hydrolysate per day or a placebo for 24 weeks (15). 

80% of hydrolysate users noted a reduction in their pain after 10 to 12 weeks of daily use. Compared to the placebo group, pain at rest was reduced by half thanks to the collagen hydrolysates. The pain felt during a race was reduced by 55%. The difference between the hydrolysates and the placebo was really obvious after 24 weeks of use.

Fight against arthritis

Collagen hydrolysates are successfully used against osteoarthritis (4 to 11). Indeed, this degeneration is characterised by a decrease in the capacity of the joints to produce collagen. Collagen hydrolysates are therefore ideal for combating this decrease in local cellular anabolism.

Peptan® 1 Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen works all the better if the joint causes you pain and you don't often eat meat (10). Moreover, unlike medicated painkillers, it does not induce any side effects or allergies (10).

Preserves youthful skin and bone structure

The extracellular matrix of the skin contains collagen and hyaluronic acid. Eighty percent of this is type 1 collagen found in the skin. This collagen gives it firmness and suppleness.

In the skin, taking Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen orally provides collagen and increases the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which helps the dermis to stay young by fighting wrinkles and dryness (16). Nutrimuscle marine collagen will also promote hair growth and nail health (17-18-19). It also inhibits bone loss, thus preserving the integrity of the skeleton (20).

What to choose? Collagen peptide, N-acetylglucosamine or chondroitin?

Out of the three joint protection supplements, Nutrimuscle Type 1 Collagen is the most universal, as it contains the amino acids that make up cartilage and tendons as well as glucosamine and chondroitin. Unlike the other two supplements, Nutrimuscle Marine Collagen will work on the joints and tendons while the N-acetylglucosamine and chondroitin sulphate essentially repair the joints.

For people who are allergic to seafood, Nutrimuscle marine collagen is ideal, because unlike glucosamine, it is not a shellfish extract but a fish extract. Nutrimuscle marine collagen can therefore be used without any problems. If you only want to target the joints, N-acetylglucosamine is ideal, reinforced, if your budget allows, by chondroitin sulphate.

However, for total protection, it is preferable to combine Nutrimuscle collagen with N-acetylglucosamine, chondroitin sulphate and collagen peptide type IIm in order to act in depth on both the tendons and the joints. In this case, it is a coherent trio working in synergy, in which no supplement duplicates the work of another.
