What is Whey protein?

What is Native Whey?

  • Native whey is a protein directly from milk, without going through the different stages of making cheese. Unlike native whey, cheese whey is the most used protein on the food supplement market due to its low cost. In fact, it is a derivative of waste from cheese production. This difference in manufacturing leads to several parameters to take into account which will have an impact on health but also performance. Native whey is produced from raw milk, unlike standard whey (called cheese) which is produced from pasteurized milk. Native whey is filtered at low temperatures to preserve nutrients and bioactive peptides. It also contains higher levels of immunoglobulins, lactoferrin and glycomacropeptides than standard whey.

What is Whey Isolate?

  • Native protein is an undenatured protein derived directly from cow's milk. It is distinct from cheese protein, the latter coming from cheese waste. Native whey isolate (or “whey isolate”) comes from a process of microfiltration and ultrafiltration of milk at low temperature. The native proteins are extracted and preserved whole. Native whey isolate is very concentrated in amino acids and low in lactose. It contains an optimal protein concentration of 90%.
